Reminiscing

It’s ridiculous to think that it’s Easter already. It doesn’t feel like that. There’s no festive mood, no Easter tree branch, nothing. Only an overwhelming sense of “Get Me Out of Here”.

Sunday Stealing then. The OC 25 meme, whatever that may mean. Let’s go.

1. What is your origin of your first name? What about any nicknames?

The origin of my first name is a mystery to me. I think it’s Latin for something. The nicknames are just abbreviations of my chosen moniker. My friend Tiffany calls me Cricket, which I love her for. I call myself Steve, cos I often liken myself to Steve from Coupling.

2. Have you any claims to fame?

Embarrassingly enough, I was on telly once.

The rest of my claim to fame would be around this blog, I guess.

3. If you were famous, how would you introduce yourself to someone who had never heard of you?

“Hello, I’m Jilly. That one from the sex blog. You know. The virgin one.”

I don’t really like talking about virginity, but it seems to be the thing that most people remember me for, so it would make a nice opening gambit.
4. Which of your country’s achievements do you hold in highest regard?

My country’s more recent achievements are not to be held in high regard, but I do find it ridiculously funny that we managed to go fivehundred-odd days without settling on a government. I still don’t know if we have one!

5. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I faintly remember wanting to be a hairdresser, like my niece.
6. What was your most prized possession as a child? Do you still have it?

My teddy bear. And yes, I still have it. And yes, I still love it to bits.

7. What would you change about yourself, if you could?

I don’t know. Mostly things about my personality. Just tweaking the insecure and paranoid bits of me.

8. What are you obsessed with?

Currently, I’m developing an obsession with cooking. I’m also obsessed with books and reading. And writing, of course, although that’s going a bit stroppier these days. I’m trying to get a lot of inspiration from reading. Which gives me an excuse to devour books at a record speed.

9. What is your greatest achievement so far, or the high point of your career?

Getting published would be the zenith so far! I hope there’s more of that to come.

10. When/where were you happiest?

I’m happiest when I’m lost in London, wandering, discovering.

11. And the lowest point in your life thus far?

Depression.

12. What was the best decision you ever made?

Best decision I’ve ever made? Opening myself up for everyone to see (read).

13. If you have any body modifications, which was most painful, or which do you regret the most? If you haven’t got any, do you have any planned, or would you ever consider getting any?

If you mean tattoos or piercings, I’ve not had one yet, but I’m keen on getting one of either.

14. What is the most idiotic thing you have ever done while intoxicated?

ME? Intoxicated, in an all-girls private school dormatory? At three am in the morning? WITH MY REPUTATION?????

BINGO.
15. What is your favorite joke?

I don’t immediately go for straight-up jokes, like “why did the chicken cross the road”. I tend to pluck mine from stand-up comics I see. This one’s from Tim Minchin, and I hope I do it justice.

I said to my friend, “Me and my wife, we fuck like rabbits.”

He looked at me, very shocked. “You fuck, like, rabbits? Oh my God. I fuck, like, my girlfriend…”

 6. What is the coolest/most impressive thing you own?

 Nipple tassels.

17. When did you last cry, and why?

A few days ago, from the overwhelming nature of the hive-itch.

18. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever had?

Excellent advice.

19. Similarly, what’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you?

ILB let me use his Oyster card, like a true angel.

20. Have you any vices?

Oh baby, I’m all vice….

21. Do you regret anything?

Not wanting to go to my nan’s funeral. I wanted to remember her alive.

22. What is the best invention ever?

The i-Pod. Because i-Pod.

23. How would you describe your relationship with your family?

A bit…. wobbly?

24. Who is your biggest inspiration?

As a blogger, Dr. Brooke Magnanti and Zoe Margolis are my two main inspirations. As a writer, I get inspired by lots of comedy writers, like Danny Wallace and Dave Gorman. Overall, my biggest inspiration is mamma B.

25. What are you going to do when you’ve finished Sunday Stealing?

Put out for cake.

  1. Most people remember you for your virginity? Odd; we remember you most as the cute girl who watched us fuck on cam and who we desperately wished would strip off but didn’t.

Love the image from #18; we once used it in a TMI Tuesday, I believe.
